It’s back to college and Morgan Memorial Goodwill is ready with everything these hardworking, thrifting scholars need to refresh and reignite wardrobes for the fall. This season we turned to fashion major Rebecca for her designer perspective on super buys available at our Goodwill stores. After exploring our Jamaica Plain location on Centre Street, Rebecca came back with an armload of clothing, finding 13 unique pieces for only $75!
Her haul includes cozy sweatpants, a fall-favorite poncho, and a selection of jeans and tops totally capable of going from campus to town without a hitch. Here are her creative takes on our gently reused clothing.
Eight timeless ways to mix and match casual Goodwill deals:
Photo 1: This half-tucked winter white sweater with delicate peek-a-boo stitched sleeves ($5.50) layered over black jeans ($5.50) adds a touch of elegance to any daytime look.
Photo 2: Black jeans are our all-around favorite! Here Rebecca paired this wardrobe staple with a café-colored Abercrombie & Fitch long-sleeve cotton tee embellished with hook-and-wire front.
Photo 3: White high-top platform Converse downplay this green Oh Polly ($8) butterfly-sleeved cocktail dress — transforming an evening go-to into just the right feel for an afternoon with friends.
Photo 4: Oversized comfy Nike sweatpants retail for as much as $70. At Goodwill, this barely worn black cotton standard set Rebecca back a mere $5.50.
Photo 5: Wow! An NWT discovery — Rebecca’s half-crop black tank levels up these comfy, never-worn red Joe Boxer lounge sweatpants for only $5.50.
Abrand Jeans steal the show at Goodwill.
Photo 6: These blue Carrie Jean Britt Recycled Abrand jeans retail for more than $109! At Goodwill, they are just $5.50. To style them, Rebecca dug a 1970s feel, adding a (NWT!) brown sweater poncho and a colorful, over-the-shoulder, striped cloth purse.
Photo 7: Soaking up the sun, Rebecca went for vintage ‘90s fashion with a “Genuine Sonoma Jean Company” oversized blue jean jacket ($10), black silk Banana Republic tank ($3) and the ever-versatile Abrand jeans.
Photo 8: A low-cut V-neck slip tank brings out the best in these Abrand thrifted jeans. Simple, classic and flattering for only $2.50.
Photo 9: Rebecca stays ahead of fast fashion by thrifting gently used casual wear at Goodwill. This off-white top with full short sleeves ($5) balances neatly with our high-waisted black jeans.
Thank you to Rebecca for shopping, selecting and modeling our fall college finds. Your look is inspiring, and we urge all our Goodwill fans to discover their own inner bargain gods and goddesses at one of our 14 retail locations throughout the state. Oh, and good luck this year with college! You’re going to do great!
