Thanksgivng 2011

For the individuals and families we serve at Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries, Thanksgiving can be a very difficult time — especially when so many can barely put food on the table.

That’s why Goodwill’s longtime tradition of providing Thanksgiving dinner to the individuals in our programs is so important. For many years, our Thanksgiving-in-a-Basket and Thanks-for-Giving Dinner have sent a message of hope to those struggling to stand on their own two feet.

When Lolita Anthony first came to Goodwill, she had no high school diploma, no job skills — and two small sons to support. And though Lolita was determined to take care of her family, when Thanksgiving came around she had very little to offer them.

Lolita was truly overjoyed to receive a Goodwill Thanksgiving basket so her two little boys could have a real Thanksgiving dinner.

With Goodwill’s help — and the support of our generous donors — Lolita has earned her high school equivalency diploma and is interviewing for jobs. For the first time, her prospects look very hopeful. Things are still pretty tough at home, however, and it’s hard to provide for her children. This Thanksgiving, as Lolita will tell you, she and her family will be grateful to receive a Goodwill basket once again.

For over 115 years, Goodwill has helped men and women facing barriers to employment achieve the independence and dignity that comes from work. Please make your gift to Goodwill today so that together we can bring hope and help to those in need.
