Holiday 2011

As the holidays approach, children start making wishes…for a new bike, or maybe a basketball or a doll. But some youngsters don’t have a holiday wish. They have faced so much hardship in their lives, they’re afraid to wish for anything at all.

That’s why Goodwill's Youth Holiday Event is so important. Every year at this time, the generosity of friends like you helps us welcome the boys and girls in our youth programs and the children of moms and dads in our job training programs to a Holiday Celebration just for them.

So many of these families are struggling to make ends meet right now. When you can barely pay the rent or put food on the table, even small presents are out of the question.

But in just a few weeks, we’ll be opening our doors to more than 400 girls and boys who are counting the days to an event that will have games, snacks and all kinds of activities. As the cares of the world drop away, the children experience something magical at Goodwill's Holiday Celebration - they get to be kids.

You might think a board game or a soccer ball is a small thing, but not to these children. Their small gift proves that someone is thinking about them — that someone cares. And that is a very big thing.

Please let them know you care. By making a gift today, your generosity will provide the Children of Goodwill with something that many of us take for granted - A Happy Holiday.
