CLOTHING COLLABORATIVE FOR JOB TRAINEES

Your company can participate in an important program that helps community-based job trainees overcome one of the greatest obstacles to getting and keeping a job - owning appropriate work attire.

Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries, FleetBoston Financial, The City of Boston, Dimock Community Health Center, STRIVE have collaborated to start The Goodwill Clothing Collaborative for Job Trainees.
 

The Goodwill Clothing Collaborative for Job Trainees is made up of community-based organizations that help people who have disabilities and other barriers to self-sufficiency through intensive employment and training programs. The collaborative program creates an opportunity for job trainee graduates to learn the basics of how to dress appropriately for work and to own work- appropriate attire for their interview and for the duration of their first year of employment. Clothing for the program is received through clothing drives organized by large and small businesses throughout Massachusetts.

LOGISTICS

• Drive dates and times are arranged around your company's schedule.
• You will be given a Goodwill representative who will answer all of your questions and provide hanging racks, hampers, event posters, tax receipts and pick-up of donated items.
• Your company will be acknowledged in the following ways: Goodwill newsletter- 40,000 sent two times per year; listing in press releases; Goodwill Clothing Collaborative for Job Trainees promotional material; Goodwill website www.goodwillmass.org and a Certificate of Recognition from, and membership in, Mayor Menino's Clothing Collaborative Council.

Please, we do request that clothing be provided on hangers (if possible), to insure preservation of your valuable donations.

ORGANIZING A DRIVE IS EASY·

• Call Goodwill at (617) 541- 1259 to be assigned a Goodwill contact and to schedule a date and time of drive.
• Appoint an internal business representative for your workplace drive event.
• Give Goodwill an employee count to ensure that an appropriate number of tax receipts will be sent.
• Designate donation drop-off area in your company's office building.
• Display event information provided by Goodwill two weeks prior to The Goodwill Clothing Collaborative workplace drive.
• Send an email to employees to introduce the event two weeks prior to the drive date, then two days before the day of event. Ask your Goodwill contact to be present at the drive if you think youâll need their assistance.
